ccmake not working properly

Description
On an acer laptop, selecting a toolchain file has no effect.
The file seems to be completely ignored. System type etc are
misdetected.
rpm -q -f which cmake
cmake-2.6.4-2.fc10.x86_64
mkdir build_dir
cd build_dir
cmake -DCMAKE_TOOLCHAIN_FILE=../toolchains/toolchain-powerpc-tuxbox.cmake ..
